Jabłonna is a village in central Poland. It has 7000 inhabitants and is situated 20 kilometres north of Warsaw , the Polish capital.
Jabłonna is a municipality with a rich history, full of forests and nature reserves. It’s situated by the biggest Polish river, the Vistula.
It's an interesting place for people who love peace and quiet and love to spend time actively in the bosom of nature.
The name of the village comes from apple tree orchards, which grew in this area in the Middle Ages. In Polish ‘jablon’ means ‘an apple tree’. Some people work in services (shops), small companies (wholesalers, garages), and in horticulture.
Most commute to Warsaw or a nearby bigger town Legionowo where they work in factories, services and offices. Most people use public transport because Jablonna has a good connection with the public transport in Warsaw (tram and underground network).
In Jablonna there are two schools(primary and secondary), the town hall, a bank, church, community centre, health centre, post office, sport centre 'Orlik', two supermarkets and five housing estates.
Thereare some interesting buildings in the community: the palace from the 18th century, a roadside from the 19th century
(at present the town hall) and a church from the middle of the 20th century. In Jabłonna there are four nature reserves and eighty five nature monuments. Jabłonna is divided into two areas. The first area (next to a ring road) consist of new housing estates.
The second area (close to the river) is full of one-family houses and the oldest historical monuments and buildings.
In recent years many people are moving from the capital city to Jabłonna searching for silence and clear air.
In Jablonna there are places for active leisure and sport: the palace with an English park, cycling and hiking paths along the river and in nearby forests, a golf course, a swimming pool and a sport centre ‘Orlik’. In Jablonna there is a sport club where young people can train football, table tennis, taekwon-do, volleyball, cycling and chess. In the community centre they can also take part in art, dance, foreign languages and music classes
The climate in Jabłonna is typical for Poland with warm, sometimes hot summers and cold winters.
